EURO 2020 Qualifiers: Where to watch Italy vs Finland on March 23

March 22, 2019 By Michelle Bonsu
Italy will look to continue their long unbeaten streak in qualifying matches as they take on Finland. Live Soccer TV's match preview provides team news, match facts, and global broadcast listings for Italy vs. Finland.

Current form: Italy vs Finland

Italy's failure to qualify for the 2018 World Cup was a resounding disappointment, and the Azzurri will be seeking to make amends as they failed to make inroads in the Nations League as well. With Greece, Armenia, Bosnia, and Liechtenstein in their group, Italy's path to EURO 2020 isn't the most difficult, but teams like Greece and Bosnia could pose a tricky test, so the Azzurri will be looking to pick up all three
points in their qualifying opener against Finland. The hosts concluded 2018 with a narrow 1-0 friendly win over the USMNT, but could hardly call 2018 a resounding success, as they won just three games between March and November.

Meanwhile, Finland ended up losing their last two Nations League games against Greece and Hungary, but a strong start, which saw them win their first four matches, was enough to get them promoted to League B. Overall, 2018 was a decent year for the minnows, who won eight of their 13 games overall, losing just four times, but they are nonetheless expected to be the underdogs when they travel to Udine to open their EURO 2020 qualifying campaign.

Team news: Italy vs Finland

Italy: Fiorentina young star Federico Chiesa and Roma defender Alessandro Florenzi both had to withdraw from the team due to injuries during training. Another absentee for this upcoming match will be Napoli skipper Lorenzo Insigne due to muscular problems, and although Mario Balotelli seems to have put his issues behind him as he appears to have a new lease on life with Marseille, there's no room for him in Mancini's squad at the moment.

In addition to promising Juventus and Roma youngsters Moise Kean and Niccolo Zaniolo, Mancini has also included unfamiliar faces like Udinese's Kevin Lasagna and Freiburg's Vincenzo Grifo, who have a grand total of four caps between them. Perhaps his most notable exclusion in attack, though, is veteran striker Fabio Quagliarella, who returns to the fold after nearly a decade in the international wilderness. The 36-year-old has had a very impressive season so far with Sampdoria, and with him leading the race for the Capocannoniere at the moment, certainly his hard work does arguably merit him a spot in the squad.

Finland: Defenders Jere Uronen, Jonas Levänen, and Juho Pirttijoki are among those who miss out for the visitors due to injury.
