That Santiago Bernabeu defeat not only means they crashed out on a 5-3 aggregate, but it was their first elimination from this competition in fours years and the first time they have failed to make the quarter-finals in 10 years.
And the fact that this home defeat in Europe follows back-to-back Bernabeu losses in El Clasico made things worse. After this debacle, Los Blancos fans were heard chanting the name of none other than Jose Mourinho.

Amid rumors linking the Portuguese tactician with a second spell in the Spanish capital, fans could be heard screaming for the Special One to return. Florentino Perez highly respects the former Man United despite his unceremonious exit.
Jose is a free agent after being sacked at Old Trafford but it remains unknown whether Perez will bring him in soon to replace the current gaffer. Many believe Solari's sacking is a matter of when and not if. Having seen their Champions League, La Liga, and Copa del Rey hopes all end in less than seven days, it's hard to disagree with the notion that the incumbent manager will get the ax.
