Los Blancos have seen the end of their European dominance after 1,011 days as UEFA Champions League holders.

The team that dominated the UEFA Champions League for the past three years is out of the competition. Real Madrid has crashed out of the tournament in spectacular fashion, and Ajax is to blame for the team's misfortunes in what had become the team's only hope to see the end of the 2018-19 season with more trophies to their name.

Santiago Solari's men were not able to hold on to their 2-1 lead from the first leg, especially due to the team's slow start against the Dutch side. Real Madrid had never begun a UEFA Champions League game with their rivals scoring two goals inside the first twenty minutes...until today.

Never in Los Blancos' scintillating European run had the team suffered such a disappointing loss at the Bernabeu...until today.

Last, but not least, the Spanish giants will have to rise from the ashes after suffering their third loss at home by a three-goal margin.

"Real Madrid has lost three official games at home by a three-goal margin in the same season (3-0 vs CSKA, 3-0 vs Barcelona and 4-1 vs Ajax) for the first time in their 117-year history. Tomorrow the team will celebrate its saddest "birthday" in decades".

This loss will surely mark the end of an era at Real Madrid. Only time will tell how many of the historical players that won three consecutive UEFA Champions League titles will be back for the 2019-20 season.
