After several rounds of negotiations, Barcelona has finally hit the nail on its head to keep the footballer around for the next five years.

Barcelona fans can rest easy, as one of their most influential players from the past decade has agreed to extend his contract with them.

Transfer talk surrounded Jordi Alba for many weeks, but finally, the team and the player's agents have agreed terms to extend the player's stay until the end of the 2023-24 season. Alba will be 34 years old when the deal concludes.

The left back, known for his speed and key assists (most of them transformed by Messi into goals), was nearing the end of his current deal with Barcelona. Several Premier League outlets became interested in his services, but the footballer never showed any interest in leaving the team.

Today, some terms of Alba's deal were leaked, including a hefty buyout clause. Ever since PSG lured Neymar away from the Camp Nou by using his buyout clause, Los Blaugranas decided to slap massive buyout clauses on all of their players. Alba's  buyout clause will reportedly reach $568M (around €500M), so it's safe to say that we will see the player seeing the end of his deal in just over five years.
