Despite having crossed paths with the likes Messi, Cristiano, and Ramos numerous times in La Liga, neither of them was chosen.

Antoine Griezmann, having won the FIFA World Cup and played in the UEFA Champions and Europa League finals, has faced a number of world-renowned players. Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, two men who have prevented him from winning European and domestic titles on numerous occasions, immediately come to mind.

The Frenchman has also crossed paths with the likes of Sergio Ramos, Giorgio Chiellini, N'Golo Kante (as an enemy and not team-mate), and many other world-class names. However, when asked to name the toughest opponent he has ever faced, the 27-year-old opted for none of the aforementioned stars.

Instead, the Atletico Madrid talisman chose Frenkie de Jong, the Dutch starlet who will be joining Barcelona in the summer after agreeing a deal with the Blaugrana. While this may seem an odd choice to many, Griezmann spoke highly of the 21-year-old after crossing paths with him in the UEFA Nations League.

France faced Netherlands in the innaugral season of UEFA's new tournament and De Jong left an impression on Antoine. When asked by Oh My Goal who is the toughest opponent he has faced, he said: "I would say de Jong from Ajax Amsterdam because I tried to put pressure on him and never succeeded."

However, the title of the best player of all time was reserved for Leo and Ronaldo. Griezmann also went on to mention the likes of Pele and Maradona while also giving Zidane a shoutout, highlighting the fact that he has accomplished something that neither Messi or Cristiano has and that's winning the World Cup.

"Best player of all time? Well you know it depends on the era but I would say Messi or Cristiano," he said.

"I never saw how Pele or Maradona played. It's a tough question. Everyone has their own style.

"There's also Zidane. Zidane won the World Cup. Messi and Ronaldo never have."
