Xavi is part of three other players who will miss Saturday’s Mallorca vs Barcelona match in La Liga as the Catalans face injury problems.
It’s not very often that Barcelona have more than two key players sidelined through injury. At the moment, however, they have to deal with the absence of four players – three of which are top men in defender Carles Puyol, goalkeeper Victor Valdes and midfielder Xavi Hernandez.

But according to the latter, there is no point making a big meal of an issue that is actually just “normal”. Speaking to Barcelona’s official club website, Xavi downplayed the team’s injury worries as he stated:

“They are minor injuries, not lengthy ones, except maybe Jeffren’s. These injuries are coincidental.

“They are caused by stress and too many games… it’s something normal, just like in any other team.”

Last weekend, Xavi sustained an injury during Barcelona’s La Liga game against Athletic Bilbao. It was later reported that the midfielder would be sidelined for 10 days, but those reports have been denied by the player himself. Xavi, who won’t have the chance to feature in Saturday’s Mallorca vs Barcelona match in the Primera Division, is expecting to return to action very shortly.

“It's a small injury. We'll see how it evolves,” Xavi declared according to the Catalans’ official website.

“But there won’t be any problem; I will be fit for the Valencia game [on Wednesday].”

There is still a five-point gap between Barcelona and Real Madrid at the top of La Liga standings. The Catalans are keen to maintain or extend that before the month of March begins.
