There will be no Cesc Fabregas for Arsenal against Birmingham City on Sunday, according to Arsene Wenger. The Arsenal coach’s decision has put an end to the skipper’s Carling Cup final dream.
On Wednesday night, Arsene Wenger claimed that it would take some time to assess Fabregas’ hamstring injury. The midfielder had actually picked it up during Arsenal’s English Premier League match against Stoke City.

Fabregas eventually missed the last 75 minutes of the encounter after complaining about his fitness. Commentating on the issue and on the possibility of having the captain fit for Sunday’s Arsenal vs Birmingham City Carling Cup final at Wembley, Coach Arsene Wenger explained while talking to the club’s official website:

“It is a very small injury, but certainly Cesc [Fabregas] will be out for Sunday. For how long [beyond Sunday]? I don't know, but he is definitely out for Sunday.

“He is disappointed. We all feel sorry and sad for him. The only way we can help him now is to win the Carling Cup as he contributed a lot in this competition.”

Cesc Fabregas joined Theo Walcott on Arsenal’s injury list as both players suffered a blow in midweek. Meanwhile, the Gunners are set to welcome back Koscielny, Van Persie and Diaby who all missed the Stoke match as Wenger confirmed:

“All the three will be available. That is the good news. And everybody else is all right from the Stoke game too.”
