James hints at Real Madrid return

James Rodriguez hints at Real Madrid return after Bayern's Liverpool draw

February 20, 2019 By Ali M.
The Colombian ace has not enjoyed the best of campaigns in his second season with the German giant and has thus been tipped to leave this summer.

The future of James Rodriguez remains a mystery. While the talented Colombian currently dons the Bayern Munich jersey, he is a Real Madrid player plying his trade in Germany on loan.

And that loan deal will come to an end once the curtain closes on the current season. The 27-year-old had initially been tipped to remain in Bavaria, as the club appeared eager to pay the $48M required to make his loan spell a permanent one.

However, things have changed and even the player himself hinted that a return to Los Blancos is most likely. Speaking after his team's Champions League clash with Liverpool on Tuesday, which ended in a goalless draw, the South American attacker admitted he has reasons for wanting a return to the Bernabeu.

"In Madrid, I have everything such as my house and people who love me," Rodriguez told Cope's 'El Partidazo' and Cadena SER's 'El Larguero' (via Marca).

"We will have to see what happens, but at the moment I have a contract with Bayern Munich.

"I just want to finish the season and we'll see what happens.

"I keep in touch with some Real Madrid players."

Things have not been going well for the former Monaco sensation in his second season at the Allianz Arena, hence the exit rumors. Rodriguez scored eight goals and provided 14 assists in 39 matches last season for his German employers but has struggled to make an impact this season amidst a reported falling-out with new manager Niko Kovac.

A host of clubs have been linked with the Colombian as a result, with Juventus eager on reuniting him with Cristiano while there has been interest from the Premier League, namely Arsenal. However, the final decision on his future has not been made. As a result, one should not rule out the odds of seeing him in a Los Merengues shirt once more.
