Juve handed massive blow prior to Atlético clash

Atlético vs Juve – Vecchia Signora handed massive medical blow ahead of UCL tie

February 19, 2019 By Oscar Rojas
The Italian side will have to adapt due to some late changes to their squad.

Juventus' 2018-19 UEFA Champions League has not been a walk in the park, and this latest setback could prove to be too much for the bianconeri to overcome.

Speaking in the pre-match press conference, coach Massimiliano Allegri revealed that he will have to adjust his starting XI for Wednesday's clash due to Sami Khedira's absence.

The German midfielder decided to stay home due to cardiac problems, which were later confirmed by the boss.  The former Real Madrid player has been diagnosed with an arrhythmia, which will need about 40 days to heal.

Khedira's absence will force Allegri to include Rodrigo Bentancur in the team's waist. Blaise Matuidi and Miralem Pjanic will also be handed starting nods due to this medical issue.

The German footballer has struggled all season with different medical problems. Since the end of the 2018 FIFA World Cup, Khedira has only played 21 games for club and country, scoring only two goals and handing out one assist in nine Serie A games. The German midfielder has also played three UEFA Champions League clases, with no goals or assists to his name.

The player will now have to choose between two methods to treat his condition. One of them would require surgery, while the other would involved the use of medication.
