The Brazilian left back has been harshly criticized by fans and experts for his poor performances this season.

Marcelo's future with Real Madrid has been the subject of much speculation throughout the year. In an interview with Brazilian outlet Esporte Interativo, Marcelo decided to tackle those rumors and hinted that he would not have any problem if he was asked to leave the Spanish side, although it would make him "very sad".

Even if he is still confident about his role with Los Blancos, Marcelo admitted that his confidence has been dented in the last few months due to the criticism that comes from fans.

"I always say that fans have the right to complain. I do my best to please them, but sometimes we don't deliver. I was once a fan, and I know the feeling of going to the stadium to vent some stress out.

Marcelo went on to discuss his possible transfer with the hope of keeping his spot with Los Blancos beyond this season.

"The thought of leaving Real Madrid has never crossed my mind. I believe in myself, more than anyone else will ever do, and I believe I don't have to leave. If the day comes when Real Madrid does not want me here anymore, then I'll go. I'll be sad, but I'll be gone. I'm pretty sure that I won't be fired. But if they want that to happen, then they should pay me my money and I'll be on my way," Marcelo said.

Marcelo went on to discuss the feeling left by Zidane's exit last summer.

"It was really odd. It was via a press release and most of did not know anything because things were going great. It was shocking to me. He talked to me every day, cared about me and stood by mi side. Zizou motivated me to give everything for him. I ran, struggled and even played through injury for him. I left my life on the pitch for Zidane," Marcelo added.

Then, Marcelo shared details on his relationship with Cristiano Ronaldo, adding details on the sense of loneliness he feels with the departures of the Portuguese footballer and other players.

"I had a great relationship with Cristiano, with his family, his girlfriend...I played nine years beside him. It's normal to be sad, but I felt the same way about Kiko (Casilla), because he sat right next to me in the dressing room," Marcelo said.

"Now, I have Bale by my side. The only thing is that Bale does not talk, he only speaks English. We communicate with hand gestures, and then I go on to say 'hi, hello, goodbye' and that's it," the footballer jokingly said.

Before the interview concluded, Marcelo kept his word about being loyal to Real Madrid, even if fans are already using Photoshop to dress him as a Juventus player.

"I've seen those photos. Even though they are a spectacular team, I am a Real Madrid player right now," the footballer concluded.
