Where to watch Roma vs Porto in the UCL on February 12, 2019

February 12, 2019 By Michelle Bonsu
Will Roma be able to shake off their turbulent domestic form when Porto come to town? LiveSoccerTV's match preview provides match facts and global broadcast listings for Roma vs Porto kicking off at 15:00 EST (21:00 CET).

Current form: Roma vs Porto

Roma have had their issues domestically this term, to say the least. Recently, Eusebio Di Francesco's men suffered one of their worst losses in recent times when they were humiliated 7-1 by Fiorentina in one of the biggest upsets in the Coppa Italia. With all chances of silverware now gone for Roma, Di Francesco now simply is trying to help the team salvage what has been otherwise a rather disappointing campaign.

The hosts come into this game having beaten bottom-ranked Chievo 3-0 and sit just one point behind AC Milan in the race for a top four spot. As it looks to be a close battle between Roma, Lazio, Milan, and a recently resurgent Atalanta for the last Champions League place, Di Francesco will have to see how to manage his squad to remain competitive in the league and try to go as realistically far in the Champions League as possible.

Porto, for their part, have not lost a game across all competitions since October. They come into this game having won their last five group stage games in the Champions League and more significant, will want to preserve their unbeaten run against Roma which currently stands at four matches.

Who are last side to beat Porto this season? Benfica, who earned a narrow 1-0 result over their fellow "Big Three" rivals on October 7, 2018. Porto did recently lose the Taca da Liga final to Sporting CP, but that was on penalties after the game ended as 1-1 in regular and extra-time. They presently hold a narrow one-point lead over Benfica in the battle for the Primeira Liga title, with Braga lurking just two points back, so they will be hoping to get at least an away goal or more here in order to set themselves up comfortably for the return leg next month and be able to refocus on the domestic league.

How they got here: Roma vs Porto

Roma ended up finishing second in their quartet to book their ticket to the round of 16, just narrowly ahead of Eastern European duo Viktoria Plzen and CSKA Moscow. Despite losing half of their games, their nine points earned were enough to see the Giallorossi through. Considering they had reigning champions Real Madrid in that quartet, it was hardly surprising to see Di Francesco's side lose both home and away but they will be up against a stern challenge when Porto come to town.

Porto, meanwhile, were the beneficiaries of one of the easiest quartets in this season's Champions League. Sérgio Conceição's team cruised through their group stage campaign without much fuss and finished five points ahead of second-placed Schalke thanks to picking up five wins and a draw.
