The French club wants to collect the money they had agreed with the Welsh side over the ill-fated striker earlier this year.

In what may seem as a tasteless gesture, Ligue 1 side Nantes is ready to move on after the dramatic turn of events that led to Emiliano Sala's disappearance.

While English and French authorities are still trying to figure out where and how they can retrieve the ill-fated plane from the bottom of the ocean, Nantes is threatening to exercise legal action against Cardiff, since the Bluebirds failed to hand in the first payment for Sala's transfer.

Sala became a record transfer for Cardiff City during the recently concluded winter transfer window, where the Bluebirds paid $19M to Nantes for the player's services. Now, the French club is ready to file a lawsuit if Cardiff does not come up with the first payment in the next ten days, according to the BBC.

A spokesman for the Welsh side has admitted that Nantes' actions have left the team befuddled, since they were only delaying payment until all investigations regarding Sala's whereabouts came to an end. Sala's inner circle also criticized Nantes' actions, since there is still a remote possibility of finding the footballer alive.

Local authorities investigating this case have stated that the main focus of their operation is to recover the body found inside the wreckage, while the aircraft could be left in the bottom of the ocean. Efforts to retrieve the body will continue if weather conditions allow it, while the families of Sala and pilot Dave Ibbotson patiently wait to know what happened to their loved ones.
