Top five EPL Matchweek 25 stats as Solskjaer and Aguero move close to making history

February 4, 2019 By Ali M.
Rashford also reached a lovely feat in Man United's win over Leicester while Fulham made history but for all the wrong reasons.

Round 25 in the Premier League has also been completed, with only Liverpool and West Ham yet to lock horns. All the remaining 18 teams were in action over the weekend, with Man City, Man United, and Chelsea enjoying crucial wins.

For the Citizens, they beat Arsenal 3-1 to move within two points of Klopp's side. Due to the Gunners' defeat, both the Blues and the Red Devils leapfrogged the north London outfit after their 5-0 and 1-0 wins over Huddersfield and Leicester, respectively.

This is how the table currently looks

Tottenham also enjoyed a weekend victory, beating Newcastle 1-0 on Saturday. Here are the standout stats from the recent round of games.

Aguero closes in on Premier League record

On Sunday, Aguero bagged a hat-trick to guide his team to a 3-1 win over Arsenal. That saw him return to the mix in the Golden Boot race, but it also saw him move to the brink of a Premier League record.

Aguero is back in the race for the Golden Boot

That three-goal haul was the Argentine's 10th in the English top-flight. He is now only one short of the league record of 11 hat-tricks by a single player, which is held by the iconic Alan Shearer.

Solskjaer equals another Matt Busby record

Remember when Solskjaer surpassed Matt Busby as the Man United manager with the most consecutive wins at the start of their reign? Now the Norwegian has another record in sight, as he has equaled another record of the Red Devils icon.

Rashford reaches a lovely feat

In the victory over Leicester, Rashford proved to be the match-winner, scoring the only goal en route to the 1-0 triumph. However, this match was important for another reason as it saw the Englishman become the second-youngest Man United player in history to reach 100 Premier League appearances.

Fulham make history for all the wrong reason in Crystal Palace defeat

On Saturday, Fulham traveled to Crystal Palace but suffered a 2-0 defeat along the way. This result means the Cottagers are the first team to lose eight consecutive Premier League London derbies.

Higuain resumes his excellent goalscoring form under Sarri

Higuain's Chelsea debut did not go well, but in his first game at Stamford Bridge, the Argentine scored a brace. This means he boasts a goal-per-game ratio in league games under Sarri.
