The Italian boss was tempted by Los Blancos back in October, right after Julen Lopetegui was fired by the Spanish giants.

Real Madrid's coaching job is one of the most coveted in the world, but Antonio Conte can call himself one of the few men in the world who chose to turn down such an offer.

The Italian boss confirmed once more that he was too close to join the team back in November, but the fact that he would not be able to choose his players from scratch was decisive to make the deal fall apart.

Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Conte went even further to reveal more details on why he chose to look elsewhere for employment.

"Real Madrid was too hot to handle back then. There was a big chance, but I'm not a fan of taking a job with the season already underway. I like to coach a team from the beginning of a season until the end. It was better for me not to take that job," Conte said.

The former Juventus and Chelsea boss denied being interested in coaching any team in the remaining months of the 2018-19 campaign.

"You will not see me coaching anywhere until the summer, that's for sure. There's been talk about an interest from Inter, but no one has gotten in touch with me or my agent. I'll sit down calmly to analyze any offers in due time," Conte added.

Conte has been out of a job since Chelsea sacked him in July to make way for Maurizio Sarri. The former Italy coach refused to talk about the Blues, since he believes that he does not have to re-live his tenure with the London-based club.
