The scan results hint that the Juventus center-back could miss the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie.

Juventus will not face Atletico Madrid for another three weeks but the Italian giant has been rocked with a huge blow in the form of an injury to Leonardo Bonucci.

According to reports out of Italy, as per Football Italia, the center-back could be out of action for a month. The Bianconeri defender hurt his ankle in his side's recent win over Lazio but attempted to play through the pain in the 2-1 victory.

The 31-year-old could not complete the match, however, and was eventually forced to leave the game. He was seen leaving the stadium in crutches, with Juventus revealing an update on his condition the following day.

The Serie A champion revealed that Bonucci sprained his right ankle and has begun treatment. Nonetheless, he is expected to spend the next four weeks on the sidelines.

If true, that will rule him out of their Champions League trip to the Wanda Metropolitano. Allegri's men will visit the Spanish outfit for the first leg on February 20 but might have to make the trip without their crucial center-back.

Martin Caceres recently arrived in Turin from Lazio and has experience playing as a center-back. However, the doubt surrounding Bonucci could prove costly for that highly-anticipated round of 16 encounter. The club might also reconsider Mehdi Benatia's situation amid his upcoming move to Qatar.

After their 2-1 comeback win over Lazio, Juventus has stretched their unbeaten run in the league to 21 games. Next up for Cristiano and Co. is a Coppa Italia quarter-final clash with Atalanta.
