Chelsea will hope to overturn a 1-0 deficit as they host Tottenham for the second leg of their League Cup semi-finals tie.

Current form: Chelsea vs Tottenham

The Blues are suffering a major case of the blues at the moment. Maurizio Sarri's men come into this game having lost 2-0 to fellow London rivals Arsenal, which was a major setback after earning a hard-fought 2-1 win over Newcastle in their prior match. Against Arsenal, their lack of potency up front cost them yet again, as Eden Hazard was deployed once more in a false no. 9 role but to little avail. As such, Sarri has again turned to Serie A for reinforcements as he has brought in Gonzalo Higuain from AC Milan - whom he worked with at Napoli and enjoyed a successful partnership. However, as he was signed after the deadline on Wednesday, he will not be able to feature here for his new side.

As for Tottenham, they picked up a 2-1 win over Fulham in a derby clash against another London-based side, but it came at a cost: star striker Harry Kane is out due to a hamstring injury. Kane will now join fellow English international Delle Alli on the treatment table, and another key member of their attack, Heung-Min Son is still unavailable due to international duty with South Korea at the Asian Cup.

Tottenham narrowly won the first leg, but it wasn't without some controversy as VAR played a role in deciding the outcome of that tie. Chelsea naturally felt aggrieved with that result and will be determined to overcome the 1-0 deficit - but will they be able to take advantage of a Spurs side missing several key players in attack?
