Juventus reaches agreement with Manchester United for defender

January 20, 2019 By Emmanuel K. Budu-Annor
It's been a long time coming but, apparently, a move is closer than ever.

Juventus has reportedly found an agreement with Manchester United for the signing of right-back Matteo Darmian. The former Torino star has been linked with a move back to the Italian Serie A having failed to impress following his arrival.

Signed by Louis Van Gaal in 2015, Matteo Darmian has struggled to adapt to life in the English Premier League and has fallen down the pecking order as far as the right-back role at Manchester United is concerned. The arrival of Diogo Dalot last summer only signaled the end of the 29-year-old Italian defender's spell with the Red Devils as it meant that the club had four players competing for one position.

The likes of Inter Milan, Napoli and Juventus were said to be interested in the signing of Damian although Italian outlet La Gazzetta Dello Sport claims that the latter has reached an agreement to take the full-back on loan until the summer with an option to buy after the season.

The Bianconeri will pay a reported €3-4million for the six-month loan deal and head coach of the Serie A leaders Massimiliano Allegri has already hinted at the full-back's arrival having revealed that Leonardo Spinazzola is on the verge of completing a temporary move to Bologna.
