Higuan joins Chelsea after 6-month stay at Milan

Done deal - Chelsea agrees terms with Juventus for Higuain's loan deal

January 16, 2019 By Oscar Rojas
The Argentine striker will reunite with former Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri, in what will be his first stint in the English top flight.

Things have finally gone the way Gonzalo Higuaín wanted. Juventus and Chelsea have finally reached a deal to see "Pipita" joining the Blues on loan for the rest of the season.

Higuain's transfer had been a matter of speculation for quite some time, but Milan -owner of the player's rights for this season-, Juventus and Chelsea have finally agreed terms.

The initial deal between Chelsea and Juventus gives the North London club three options by the end of the season. First off, the English outfit can part ways with the player if he doesn't meet certain contractual obligations in his deal. The second option would see Chelsea extending the deal for another year. Last, but not least, the Blues can make Higuain's switch permanent if his performances meet their standards.

All clubs will confirm the deal once Milan secures Higuain's replacement. Genoa striker Krzysztof Piatek is the frontrunner to replace "Pipita" with the rossoneri.

Higuain's transfer will also pave the way for Alvaro Morata to leave the club. Atlético Madrid, Barcelona and Sevilla were interested in signing the former Real Madrid footballer, but the latter have stepped aside due to their monetary restrictions.

The 31-year-old striker will join his fifth European club. He previously played for Real Madrid, Napoli, Juventus and Milan. His best season came under coach Maurizio Sarri at Napoli, where he scored 36 goals in 35 matches to win the Serie A's Golden Boot.
