It took some time but he finally did!

Manchester City playmaker David Silva landed himself in the club's history books with his outing in Monday night's Premier League clash against Wolves. The 32-year-old Spaniard surpassed the former goalkeeper Joe Hart to become the player with the most appearances in the English league for Pep Guardiola's side.

David Silva, who joined the Citizens from Valencia in 2010, has so far featured in 267 games for the Etihad outfit – one game more than what Hart managed. In his appearances, he has scored 54 times and has also registered 77 assists in the process.

According to Manchester City's official records, he also tops the list of players with the most successful passes (14,253), as well as chances created (710).

Silva's achievement in the night was subsequently rewarded as Manchester City comfortably secured a 3-0 win over Wolves. Despite not being involved in any goal prior to his replacement with Kevin De Bruyne in the second half, a brace by Gabriel Jesus and an own-goal by Conor Coady's were enough to ensure that his side kept its league title chase alive.

Currently, the defending champions trail league leaders Liverpool by four points. Their next match will be at away to Huddersfield Town while Jurgen Klopp's side will welcome Crystal Palace to Anfield.
