Los Blancos' search for a Cristiano replacement has them looking at the Englishman, but the Spanish giant has been quoted a staggering price.

Real Madrid's need for a goalscorer is evident for everyone to see. Since Cristiano Ronaldo's departure back July of 2018, Los Blancos' current attackers have tried but failed to fill the gap left by the Portuguese superstar.

As a result, Florentino Perez is looking to the market for a replacement. One man linked with a Santiago Bernabeu move is Harry Kane -- for obvious reasons -- but the Spanish giant has been quoted a hefty price for the Englishman.

According to AS, the Champions League holder inquired about the Three Lions ace prior to the Christmas break. Spurs' response was straightforward: he will cost a whopping 350 million euros, which translates to roughly $401M.

That means Real Madrid will have to break the world-record transfer fee paid for a single player. That title is currently held by Neymar, having cost PSG $262M to lure from Barcelona.

The money the Ligue 1 giant paid for the Brazilian is blamed for the current inflation in the transfer market, hence Kane's huge asking price, but there is more to it than that. The fact that the Premier League ace is already an established goalscorer at the age of 25 means he boasts a higher valuation than the likes of Lewandowski and Cavani, two other strikers Real Madrid has looked at.

Additionally, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is a tough man to negotiate with. He knows the Spanish giant is in a dire situation and will thus not sell anyone for cheap to the Madrid side -- the fact that he demanded $286M for Eriksen alone is proof of that.

While Kane is Perez's main attacking target, the club is in no rush to land him as he is seen as a summer target, not a January acquisition. However, his north London employers are not eager to sell, meaning Real Madrid will have to break the bank or look elsewhere for Cristiano's replacement.

As of now, the main focus of the Three Lions captain and Pochettino's side is their next game. Spurs will be hosting Man United on Sunday in a highly-anticipated Premier League clash, as Kane and Co. hope to keep pace in the title race.
