It's official!

La Liga outfit Sevilla has announced that it has reached an agreement with Barcelona for the transfer of Munir El Haddadi. The 23-year-old forward's current contract with the Blaugrana was due to expire at the end of the season which would have made him a free agent.

According to ESPN, Munir was handed a contract extension although he opted against signing it. As a result, he was made aware that his service will not be needed any longer at the Catalan club. Head coach Ernesto Valverde subsequently revealed his side's decision to cash in on Munir earlier this month.

With Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez frequently leading the attacking lines for Barcelona, the La Masia academy graduate had very little chance to break into the first team. Having professed his intention to leave in order to secure enough playing time else, Sevilla was reportedly earmarked as the striker's preferred destination.

Los Hispalenses is said to have paid a cut-price of €1.05m (£937,000) for the 23-year-old prospect. Also, the striker will reportedly earn a signing bonus after he pens his four-year contract.

Barcelona's official statement confirming Munir's departure reads as follow: "FC Barcelona and Sevilla FC have reached an agreement for the transfer of the player Munir El Haddadi.

"The Andalusian club will pay FC Barcelona 1,050,000 euros to sign the striker.

"The Club would like to thank Munir El Haddadi for his dedication and commitment and wishes him all the best for the future."

In his four-year stint with the Barcelona first team, Munir made a total of 56 appearances and amassed 12 goals in the process. The Spanish international's honors include two La Liga titles, a Champions League and a Copa del Rey.
