The Spanish giants are studying their options to replace Luka Modric and Toni Kroos. Unfortunately, they have struck out on their first target.

With each passing day, more rumors emerge about Real Madrid's transfer business. This time, one of their alleged transfer targets has stepped up to deny such claims.

Involved in a tough negotiation to extend his contract with Tottenham, midfielder Christian Eriksen has played down all transfer rumors linking him to Real Madrid, admitting that Spurs still have top priority when it comes to where he wants to play.

"The future is not something I'm thinking of. I focus on playing football, and there are many battles you have to think about which must be won. I think people know what I want and I know what they (Tottenham) would like. There is a nice dialogue so there is nothing new," Eriksen said.

The 26-year old has been on Real Madrid's radar for quite some time, but since there has been no formal offer to acquire his services, Eriksen sees himself forced to dismiss any claims about his future in the Spanish capital.

"It is not the first time that there have been rumors. We don't have a say on which stories a newspaper follows. If there is nothing concrete, then I just comment on rumors," Eriksen added.

The alleged interest from Real Madrid has caused Tottenham exec Daniel Levy to place a $287M price tag on the player. However, with the midfielder's deal with Tottenham coming to an end in 2020, it could be only a matter of time before negotiations between both clubs begin.
