The elder brother of the Manchester United midfielder has launched a scathing attack at the Portuguese manager.

Mathias Pogba, the brother of Manchester United midfield star Paul Pogba, has lashed out at Jose Mourinho for his treatment of the Frenchman prior to his sack from the English club. According to the 28-year-old who plays for French third division side Tours, Mourinho "was the problem" despite seemingly putting his brother in a bad light.

A series of burst-ups between the 55-year-old manager and Pogba in exclusive occurrences caused the pair to not see eye-to-eye as Manchester United's struggles in the season continued. In the latter days leading to his exit from the Old Trafford outfit, Jose Mourinho branded the 25-year-old ex-Juventus star as a "virus" in the dressing room.

Contrary to the Portuguese manager's assertion, Pogba's brother has labeled him as the one to blame for Manchester United's plights. Mathias Pogba claims that the club's former manager did not respect his brother and also dominated the dressing room with his big ego.

"It was Mourinho who was the problem," Mathias Pogba told RMC Sport.

"Mourinho still wants to be the center of attention. The problem was Mourinho, right down the line.

"In the locker room, outside the locker room...everything, I know my brother, and you tell him, 'Go. Go play ', the rest, he will do it.

"From what we see of Mourinho, he always wants to be the maestro, the center of attention.

"(Paul) does not even calculate that aspect: you respect him, he will respect you, you trust him, he will produce big performances."

Having been handed a role on the bench by Mourinho in the final games leading to his departure, Pogba was immediately restored to the starting XI following the appointment of interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The World Cup winner has since registered four goals and four assists in four appearances for Manchester United.

Having excelled in December, Pogba was subsequently handed the Player of The Month award after linking up with his teammate in the club's warm weather training camp in Dubai on Tuesday. The midfielder is expected to return to the starting lineup in the crucial Premier League encounter with Tottenham Hotspur after missing the FA Cup win over Reading with an injury.
