Certainly not the start Los Blancos was looking forward to.

Real Madrid endured a tough start in Sunday's La Liga encounter at home to Real Sociedad. Los Blancos approached the match with the objective of getting its first win in 2019 following a 2-2 draw in mid-week against Villarreal.

However, Santiago Solari's side had to attempt a comeback after a Casemiro error in the penalty area gifted the visitors the opportunity to take the lead inside the first minute. The Brazilian midfielder, in an attempt to halt an attack by La Real, ended up tackling Mikel Merino to the ground.

Forward Willian Jose subsequently stepped up to strike a right footed shot to the high center of the goal past Thibaut Courtois. Interestingly, the penalty is first goal Real Madrid has conceded under Solari in La Liga at the Bernabeu.

Despite enjoying some success under the supervision of new manager Solari, the Merengues are still struggling to find their feet in the Spanish top-flight league. The European champions momentarily sit in third place, trailing table-toppers Barcelona by six points.

Real Madrid entered the matchup with Real Sociedad without talisman Gareth Bale who was ruled out of action after sustaining an injury in Thursday's meeting with Villarreal. In his absence, Brazilian sensation Vinicius Jr. was handed the opportunity to make his La Liga debut this season.
