Despite being on the radar of the Reds, the Borussia Dortmund teenage star opted for the London club.

Borussia Dortmund's Christian Pulisic has explained why he decided to sign for Chelsea despite interest from their Premier League rivals. The 21-year-old, on Wednesday, officially confirmed his move to join the Stamford Bridge outfit in a deal worth a reported $73 million.

Momentarily, Pulisic is loaned to Dortmund until the end of the season. Although he has somewhat become a squad player, the USMNT star is expected to aid Der BVB to secure the Bundesliga title with the men in yellow and black currently leading defending champions Bayern Munich by six points.

Prior to accepting the offer from Chelsea, Pulisic was believed to have been approached by English Premier League leaders Liverpool. Jurgen Klopp's men purportedly tabled a big offer for the 21-year-old of which he rejected.

Speaking to ESPN at Borussia Dortmund's warm weather training camp in Marbella, Spain on Saturday, the American playmaker highlighted Chelsea's current style of play as the biggest factor to have motivated his decision to join them.

"I've seen their style of play.

"I've always appreciated how they've played football, and it's really nice how they play now, with their new coach. It fits me very well."

On the subject of snubbing Liverpool, he said: "It's not something I want to talk about, I'm very happy with my decision to join Chelsea.

"I am very excited and grateful to be able to see out the season at Signal Iduna Park before my big dream of playing in the Premier League.

"My head is more clear. People know my decision and I hope they will understand it, and also understand that I really want to be here for the rest of the season, 100 percent," he added.

"I'm not just here to finish up my time, just like any other player in the world I will have to fight for my position. I want to play and help to make it a really special year for Dortmund."
