Reports coming in from Spain were shared moments after Unai Emery ruled out any intention to lure the keeper away to Emirates Stadium.

Despite being relegated to the bench by Thibaut Courtois, Keylor Navas seems to be ready to put up a fight.

The Costa Rican goalkeeper had been linked with a winter transfer exit, but things have taken an unexpected turn in the last few hours, as the three-time UEFA Champions League winner with Los Blancos has reportedly signed a contract extension, according to Spanish newspaper Marca.

Navas' previous deal ended with the 2019-20 campaign, but the team's hierarchy has decided to extend the player's contract for one more season. The Central American shot-stopper will earn just over $5M after signing this extension.

The goalie's decision to extend his link to Real Madrid took everyone by surprise, as his recent social media activity hinted at an exit from the Spanish giants. Nevertheless, reports by Marca and Spanish TV show Jugones shared the same opinion: Navas was planning to extend his stay at the Bernabeu.

Furthermore, the team that was supposedly interested in signing Navas has stepped out of the race earlier today, as Arsenal's coach Unai Emery dismissed claims about an alleged interest in the Costa Rican.

"We never speak about one goalkeeper because I think - and it's true - we are very happy with the three goalkeepers we have now. We've never spoken about Keylor Navas," Emery stated in today's press conference.

While this move by Real Madrid may pave the way for a summer transfer with big numbers involved, the only certainty we have is that Keylor Navas is going nowhere...at least in the next four weeks.
