The Frenchman has broken his silence over the Special One's Old Trafford exit.

One man who has come under heavy scrutiny since Man United sacked Jose Mourinho is Paul Pogba. The Frenchman made no public statements about the Portuguese tactician until Saturday, breaking his silence after their weekend trip to Cardiff City.

The World Cup winner did not enjoy a lovely relationship with the former Red Devils boss, having clashed on several occasions. The former Juventus man was stripped of his vice-captaincy role and was told he would never wear the armband again by Jose before falling out during a training session in front of cameras.

It has been reported that Pogba led the dressing-room celebrations after Mourinho's departure was confirmed, as a large portion of the first-team did not see eye-to-eye with the Special One. However, when speaking about the 55-year-old on Saturday, the midfielder held nothing but praise for the former gaffer.

"We won trophies with Jose and I want to thank him for that," Man United's record-signing said (as per BBC Sport).

"He makes me improve, as a person as well, and that's it. That's the past, I want to thank him for that.

"I'm sure that is the same for all the players and now we are looking forward to the next game."

Pogba made these remarks after their impressive win over Cardiff City. They entered this game on the back of a disappointing loss at Anfield but proved they can play attacking football en route to a 5-1 win.

The 25-year-old put in a good performance in Ole Gunnar Solskjær's dream debut. While he did not make the score sheet, the Frenchman grabbed two assists in the Old Trafford side's first five-goal display from the English giant since Sir Alex Ferguson retired.
