The Swiss and his team attained a couple of landmarks in Sunday's victory over fierce rivals Manchester United.

Liverpool ensured that its unbeaten record this season remained intact by cruising to an emphatic 3-1 victory over Manchester United in Sunday's Premier League encounter.

The Reds started off on the right foot by opening the scoring in the 24th minute via Sadio Mane. However, the lead could only last for 11 minutes with Jesse Lingard grabbing the equalizer following a goalkeeping mistake by Allison.

Having started on the bench, Xherdan Shaqiri, once again, gave Liverpool a glimpse of what he has in store by scoring three minutes after coming on to replace Naby Keita in the 70th-minute. The 27-year-old subsequently killed the game by netting Liverpool's third in the 80th-minute to extend the club's unbeaten run in this campaign to 17.

Shaqiri, as a result, became only the second player to score at least two goals in a debut against Manchester United for Liverpool in the Premier League. The first was Nigel Clough back in January 1994. Similarly, Liverpool achieved a league milestone with the win. The 19 points difference between them and Manchester United is the biggest the Reds have managed over Jose Mourinho's side after the first 17 games of an English top-flight season.

Relatively, Manchester United also reached some unsavory landmarks of its own. After just 17 matches, the Old Trafford outfit has so far conceded 29 goals in the league this season – one more than it did in the entirety of the 2017/18 campaign (28).

The club momentarily boasts its worst points accumulation in top-flight since 1990-91 having managed just 26.
