The Spanish giants have reportedly earmarked two players to fill the boots of two of the club's biggest stars.

Barcelona has reportedly identified two long-term replacements for the Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez. The pair, both 31, have been integral members of the Blaugrana's attacking front, consistently contributing goals and assists following the birth of their partnership in 2014.

In the ongoing campaign, Messi has scored a staggering 17 goals in 18 appearances across all competitions while Suarez has managed 10 in 19 respectively. Although the duo is not showing any signs of regressing in form, Barcelona is believed to be on the hunt for their replacements on a long-term basis.

According to Catalan publication Mundo Deportivo, La Liga's defending champions have made out two emerging stars – Celta Vigo's Maxi Gomez and AC Milan loanee to Sevilla Andre Silva – as the potential apprentices for the aging pair.

The former, a 22-year-old has been a revelation for the Sky Blues this season, scoring eight goals in 14 appearances. The attacker is also well known to Suarez, who is currently out with a knee injury, as they are both members of Uruguayan national team.

Currently regarded as one of the hottest prospects in the Spanish league, Gomez is expected to cost Barcelona a fortune. The attacker's current deal with Celta Vigo runs until 2022.

Andre Silva, on the other hand, has scored seven times in 14 appearances across all competitions for Sevilla. However, with his parent club AC Milan still working to reestablish its dominance in Europe, it remains quite indistinct if the club would consider a sale.
