UCL: Mourinho outlines expectations for Pogba

Mourinho outlines expectations for Pogba ahead of Valencia test

December 11, 2018 By Emmanuel K. Budu-Annor
The Manchester United manager has highlighted what he requires from Paul Pogba ahead of Tuesday's clash with Valencia.

Jose Mourinho has spelt out certain expectations for Paul Pogba as he prepares to feature for Manchester United in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday. The Frenchman has been on the fringes in recent weeks but will be handed the opportunity to make a claim for a spot in the starting XI when his side takes on Valencia.

According to report, his recent spells on the bench is as a result of an apparent bust-up with Jose Mourinho in training back in November. The 25-year-old midfielder only got to feature for the Red Devils in the late minutes during the 2-2 draw with Arsenal but did not play any role in the 4-1 thrashing of Fulham over the weekend.

Manchester United travels to Anfield on Sunday and Jose Mourinho has handed Pogba an ultimatum as the Frenchman aims to prove that he deserves a spot in the starting XI.

"I'm looking for him to play well and have a good impact in the game and a good impact in the team," Mourinho stressed while addressing reporters.

"A team without many players that don't have many miles on their legs, a team with some players that are not playing a lot.

"So I hope that people like Paul and a couple of others that are normally in the team have that number of miles that players need to be at that top level and have a good impact on the team."

Paul Pogba is among a handful of stars who made the trip to Spain for the game against Valencia with Jose Mourinho underplaying the importance of the outcome of the encounter. The Frenchman has scored five goals in 19 appearances in this season's campaign for Manchester United.
