Crawley Town goalkeeper Michel Kuipers has stated that he is ready for the war against the Red Devils this Saturday.
Manchester United host Crawley Town this Saturday in what could be a feisty encounter at Old Trafford.
Crawley Town goalkeeper Michel Kuipers was once part of the military and he underwent massive trainings in the Arctic and Deserts. However, Kuipers still believes that, none of them will be able to match the battle at Old Trafford this Saturday. Nonetheless, Kuipers hopes to be able to use his experience as a motivation for the game against United.
“When I was in the marines I was with a paratroop regiment and with reconnaissance. I did everything from arctic, desert and jungle training for four and a half years.
“Many of the things I learnt there I use now – like self-motivation, dedication and confidence. As a keeper, you need to be commanding, in charge of the penalty area.”
“We know we will be under pressure but our defenders have been rock-solid,” he said.
“We have to defend as a team, play the game and not the occasion.
“I have never faced any of the players we are likely to be up against on Saturday. Dimitar Berbatov was not playing when I played against Spurs. But it does not matter. They are all top quality. Maybe Wayne Rooney will not be playing, but he might well be on the bench.
“It’s a question of concentrating on our own performances and then the team performance should take care of itself.”
Crawley will be looking to cause a major upset by being the first non-league side to reach the FA Cup Quarter-finals since the First World War. But before that, they will have to face the Red Devils at the Theatre of Dreams.
