The French teenage sensation has been named as the first recipient of the Kopa Trophy.

Paris Saint-Germain and France star Kylian Mbappe has been named as the first recipient of the Kopa Trophy. The 19-year-old star picked up the honor in front of his family at the awards ceremony held in France's capital Paris on Monday. The prize was only created this year by France Football magazine to honor the best performing player under the age of 21.

Kylian Mbappe, after firing Paris Saint-Germain to a domestic treble last season, topped up his accomplishment by aiding France to a first World Cup win in 20 years. The ex-Monaco starlet broke a host of records previously held by the legendary Brazilian Pele by scoring four goals in his nation's campaign in the summer.

Having missed out on the Golden Ball, the Mbappe was named the Best Young Player in his first World Cup final appearance. He has subsequently continued his ascendancy by scoring for his club side PSG by scoring 11 goals and registering four assists in only nine league appearances.

Borussia Dortmund's Christian Pulisic placed second after the voting which was done by past Ballon d'Or winners with Holland and AS Roma starlet Justin Kluivert completing the top three.
