The Gunners' boss made an interesting claim ahead of Sunday’s epic derby.

Arsenal head coach Unai Emery has admitted that Tottenham Hotspur is momentarily a better side than his team ahead of his first-ever London derby. The 47-year-old Spaniard who replaced Arsene Wenger as manager of the Gunners has enjoyed a stellar start in the Premier League.

Since losing to Chelsea back in August, his side has not put a foot wrong as it is currently enjoying an 18-game unbeaten run across all competitions. In the English Premier League, Arsenal could pip Tottenham Hotspur to the fourth position should the results favor them in the impending clash.

However, Unai Emery maintains that Mauricio Pochettino's team is better than his current Arsenal side. Spurs come into Sunday's match on the back of a 3-1 victory at Wembley against another London rival Chelsea and, as a result, could equally dash the hopes of the Gunners at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

"At the moment, Tottenham is better than us in the table and better than us last year but in history, Arsenal is better at other moments that Tottenham," Emery declared while adressing the media.

"I think we are going to live with two (sets of) supporters and I think it will be a very good atmosphere.

"The first match is in our stadium and with our supporters and we want on Sunday to give them the best performance and can give them our energy and our things on the pitch to help them push us."

Emery was also full of admiration of Mauricio Pochettino with both managers crossing paths for the first time since their respective spells at Espanyol and Valencia.

"His career is very, very consistent," Emery added.

"His structure in every team is very clear and also with good performances, usually he was working in Spain then at Southampton and also at Tottenham with young players and usually every young player improves with him or with his staff.

"I think he is deserving in his career like the best, with the likes of (Pep) Guardiola and (Diego) Simeone, he is a very big coach."
