But the Italian made no mention of PSG's Neymar-Mbappe-Cavani trio.

PSG is gearing up for a do-or-die Champions League clash with Liverpool on Wednesday, as the club is staring at a possible Champions League exit. And to make things worse, one of the French giant's own player has lavished the opposition that could eliminate them with praise.

That man is none other than Gianluigi Buffon. The Italian goalkeeper who is a quest to win his first Champions League crown spoke highly of three players in particular: Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah, and Roberto Firmino.

The Reds attacking trio rose to fame last season, as they tore apart defenses in England and in Europe en route to the Champions League final. And on Wednesday, they will look to add Les Parisiens' back-four to their list of victims.

While the trio are yet to hit the heights of last season, Buffon hailed them as the best in Europe at the moment ahead of their Parc des Princes encounter. Oddly enough, whether intentional or due to mere forgetfulness, the Italian snubbed PSG's own deadly Neymar-Mbappe-Cavani attack.

"Throughout my career, I have always wanted to test myself against the best — and at the moment you really can't think of any teams in Europe who have a better front three than Liverpool," the former Juventus shot-stopper told the Mirror.

“This season, I see the favorites for the Champions League as Barcelona, Juventus, and Manchester City."

Buffon then went on to name Barcelona, Juventus, and Man City as the favorites to win the title. PSG is one side hoping to go all the way as well, but their campaign could be brought to a screeching halt on Wednesday.

Tuchel's side must win or risk crashing out in the group stage. A defeat to Klopp's side would send them packing should Napoli win their respective tie, highlighting the importance of this encounter with the Premier League giant.

In the reverse fixture, Firmino scored a late winner to rob the Ligue 1 side of a point at Anfield. Now that Salah is back scoring goals, PSG's defense will likely be in for a rough 90 minutes.
