The rumors linking Neymar with a return to Barcelona linger on. Despite the attacker himself branding the reports as "fake news", recent comments made by the Spanish giant has reopened a route back to Camp Nou.
However, Blaugrana icon Xavi does not see this move happening. The Spaniard spoke about his former team, dismissing their odds of bringing back the Selecao sensation.
The midfield maestro played alongside the former Santos starlet towards the end of his memorable spell with the Catalan giant. While the World Cup winner continues to lavish Neymar in praise, he argues that the manner in which the 26-year-old left La Liga makes it impossible for him to go back.
"I don't see it. I don't see it. I also think it didn't work out well, I don't see it in any way," Xavi told Cadena SER (via Goal).
"I read a lot of press because I'm up to date with everything football, but I see zero chances that Neymar can return to Barcelona."
Since departing Camp Nou, the Spanish Primera Division champion has spent big money on the likes of Dembele and Coutinho. While the latter has impressed at Barcelona, he has not been a like-for-like replacement for Neymar.
While Valverde's biggest concern continues to be his defense, reuniting the deadly MSN trio would be a boost. However, the Brazil captain is enjoying life in Paris, scoring 13 times for his Ligue 1 employers, and appears unlikely to leave at this moment.
As for the Catalan outfit, their sole focus will be on their upcoming game. Play resumes in La Liga, with Messi and Co. taking on Atletico in a highly-anticipated clash. The defending champion will be keen on returning to winning ways, having suffered a shock 4-3 defeat at home to Real Betis in their last game.
