Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas claimed that Arsenal have beaten the best ever side in football's history after inspiring the Gunners to a famous 2-1 win over Barcelona at the Emirates.
David Villa broke the ice by giving Barcelona the lead in the 26th minute but Arsenal came back strongly in the second half with goals from Van Persie and Andrei Arshavin completing the famous comeback for the Gunners.

After helping his team achieve this win, Fabregas then said that the Gunners have just beaten the best ever side in the history of football.

He told ITV: "They don't lose many games. They are the best side in football's history in my opinion.

"This is 180 minutes. It's a nice victory. It will give confidence to the team but that's all.''

Last year, the Gunners only managed a 2-2 draw against the Catalans at home. But Fabregas believes that this result shows that they are now matured enough to win big games.

"First of all we don't have five or six injured players. Second, we are all one year older. We are mature enough to play big games. We showed it here but if we don't show it (in the second leg in Barcelona) it's nothing.''

Even Arsene Wenger agrees that Arsenal still remain as underdogs because they still have to face Barcelona at the Camp Nou

"I am highly delighted. It was a special football night,'' said Wenger. "The game promised a lot and fulfilled that promise. It was two exceptional teams who tried always to be positive.

"We are not favorites now, but what is important is the belief that we have a chance. Barcelona are still favorites. We know now that we can beat them, though. We did not know that last year.

"Tonight gives us a chance to go to Barcelona with belief. Every game is difficult but we will prepare well and be highly focused.''
