Harry Kane scores late in England's comeback win

WATCH: Harry Kane scores late in England's comeback win over Croatia

November 18, 2018 By Emmanuel K. Budu-Annor
The Tottenham Hotspur striker fired the Three Lions into the semis of the UEFA Nations League with his late finish.

England secured a dramatic turnaround in Sunday's Nations League meeting with Croatia at Wembley. The Three Lions having squandered a host of opportunities in the first-half were caught with their foot off the pedestal with Andrej Kramaric scoring for the visitors on the hour mark.

The Croatian forward got hold of a low cross from Nikola Vlasic and sent the shoot which slightly deflected off Eric Dier before bypassing Jordan Pickford in the England post. Manchester United winger Jesse Lingard then instigated the turnaround by tapping in the game's leveler in the 78th-minute. Seven minutes later, Harry Kane was called into action.

The 25-year-old skipper quickly reacted to poke Chilwell's free-kick into the Croatian net to grab his first goal for England since scoring against Colombia at the Round 16 stage of the Russia 2018. Watch here:

With the strike, Harry Kane reached a milestone of 20 international goals in 35 England caps. He also became the 23rd player to bag 20+ goals for England, leveling with Martin Peters and Jermain Defoe. "It felt good," Kane told Sky Sports after the game.

"The lads stuck at it, we showed our character, stayed calm and deserved to win.

"We were disappointed not to take our chances but against big sides you have to stay calm.

"We said after the World Cup we want to keep progressing and get better - and the way to do that is by beating top teams. We finished the year strong. We'll enjoy this one.

"It's incredible, I've never seen Wembley like this in an England shirt.

"We want to make everyone proud. I know they'll enjoy this one."
