Just as anticipated, there was no shortage of drama in the crunch Serie A meeting between AC Milan and Juventus on Sunday night. It was the Old Ladies who started the proceeding on a high note with Mario Mandzukic notching the first goal at San Siro.

The former Croatian international attracted massive uproar among the traveling fans by expertly guiding Alex Sandro's cross into the Rossoneri's net in the eighth-minute. With five minutes left to end the first half, AC Milan had the opportunity to get an equalizer from the penalty spot after former Bianconeri Gonzalo Higuain was brought down in the Juventus box.

Upon consultation with the VAR, the referee awarded the penalty which the Argentinian striker stepped up to take. However, an interesting scenario played out as Milan's target man prepared to make his attempt at goal.

Cristiano Ronaldo, who played together with Higuain during his time at Real Madrid hurriedly approached Juventus' shot stopper Wojciech Szczesny for a brief conversation. A short moment later, the former Arsenal player dived the right way to deny Higuain the opportunity to increase his goal tally in the Serie A this season to five.

With Cristiano Ronaldo's 'tip' seemingly working out, the 33-year-old striker went a step further to add to his night's accomplishments by putting the game out of AC Milan's reach with Juventus' second goal in the 81st minute. Gonzalo Higuain, on the other hand, saw things heading south as he was sent off for dissent with seven minutes left on the clock.
