Danny Welbeck stretchered out due to nasty ankle injury - Pics

November 8, 2018 By Oscar Rojas
The English striker was trying to get to a cross, but he slid and apparently picked up one more long-term injury.

Danny Welbeck may be facing a long spell on the sidelines, as he picked up what seems to be an horrific ankle injury against Sporting.

The English striker was aiming to get to a cross by Stephan Lichtsteiner, but he failed to land properly to the groud, twisting his ankle while at it.

As soon as he got a hold on the ball, Sporting's goalie Renan Ribeiro urged the ref to stop this game, so that Welbeck received immediate medical attention. Reactions from Welbeck's team-mates hint that Welbeck's injury could be a serious matter.

Have a look at photos from this incident below (Warning: some viewers might find some of these pics disturbing).

Welbeck slides, his ankle got caught in the turf.

The ref and Henrikh Mkhitaryan rushed to help Welbeck as Renan Ribeiro asked for Arsenal's medical staff to come in.

The player even needed to breathe in some oxygen after the incident.

Matteo Guendouzi was appalled by the player's injury.

Welbeck was stretchered out of the pitch as Arsenal fans clapped and cheered his name in supportive fashion.
