The Argentine tactician will take over as Los Blancos' manager on Tuesday while the team studies optiones for a permanent replacement.

It was just a matter of time to have this news confirmed, but Real Madrid have finally come forward to determine Julen Lopetegui's sacking.

In a short press release, the club admitted that the season is not going the way they had planned, forcing them to part ways with the coach they hired to replace Zinedine Zidane in June.

"This decision, which was made by our highest authority, intends to change the dynamic in which the first team has been involved. The timing is right to keep our season goals in hand," the press release states.

"The team's board understands that there is a sizeable gap between the team's quality, with eight candidates to win the 2018 Ballon D'Or, and the current results the team is obtaining," the document adds.

Santiago Solari will take over as coach in an interim fashion. Antonio Conte had been named as a possible replacement, but negotiations seem to have concluded with no agreement between both parties.
