The Blancos boss' fate appears to have been sealed after the club's 5-1 loss at Camp Nou in El Clasico.

Sunday's thrashing at Camp Nou now appears to be the final nail in Julen Lopetegui's coffin. The Real Madrid boss was already facing tremendous pressure amid the club's dip in form, with things only getting worse in El Clasico.

Los Blancos visited their bitter rival having lost their last two league games and came away with an embarrassing 5-1 defeat. Luis Suarez bagged an impressive hat-trick which handed the European champion a third consecutive top-flight defeat for the first time in nine years.

And now according to reports, the club's board is ready to replace Lopetegui. Florentino Perez, who is no stranger to axing gaffers, showed Rafael Benitez no mercy after that unforgettable 4-0 Bernabeu loss to the Catalan giant back in 2015 and is tipped to do the same to Julen.

Marca is one of several outlets claiming that the sacking could come as early as today, the day after the 5-1 loss. The Madrid giant already appears to have a succesor lined up.

That man is none other than Antonio Conte. The former Chelsea boss has settled his contract dispute with the Blues and is ready to return to management, with Perez eager to recruit the 49-year-old as soon as possible.

Talks are reportedly ongoing. However, a failure to reach a speedy agreement will not spare Lopetegui as Santiago Solari is tipped to take temporary charge of Real Madrid for Wednesday's Copa del Rey clash with Melilla.

All faith has been lost in the incumbent boss. Perez is thus seeking a character to ignite a fire in the under-performing players and has identified Conte as the ideal candidate.

Ramos and Co. went through similar turbulence under Benitez, with a managerial changing resulting in an upturn in fortunes for the Spanish Primera Division heavyweight. Whether Antonio can achieve similar success is unknown, but it's only a matter of time before he arrives at the Bernabeu and follows in the footsteps of Zinedine Zidane.
