Gonzalo Higuain blames Cristiano Ronaldo for Juventus exit

The Argentine striker was surprised by Juve's swift decision to part ways with him once Ronaldo's arrival was announced.

Gonzalo Higuaín was living happily in Turin, when all of a sudden, Juventus' execs felt he was surplus to the team's needs.

At least that's how the AC Milan striker refers to his final days as a bianconeri in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport.

According to Higuaín, he was never asked if he wanted to leave Juventus, which came as a surprise due to his commitment to the team from day one.

"Everything went sideways from one day to the next. Something was 'broken' between us, then they decided to sign Cristiano. The decision to leave wasn't mine. I gave it all for Juve's colors and won many titles there, but when Cristiano arrived, they told me I had to leave and that they were trying to figure things out. The best option they gave me was to sign for Milan," Higuaín said.

Despite Juventus' decision, Higuaín doesn't seem to regret joining the rossoneri side, especially since he has found a staff that really wants to make things work.

"They have the conviction to try and make things work, and they always showed interest in having me around. Leonardo, Paolo Maldini and Gennaro Gattuso are people that know this team very well, and they made quite an effort to sign me," Higuaín added.

The Argentine ace, who has scored six goals and handed out one assist, believes that he is living a sort of re-birth with the rossoneri.

"I feel four or five years younger. I am quite happy here, for me it's like playing for Napoli all over again," "El Pipita" concluded.
