Real Madrid weighing up Bale-Hazard swap?

Transfer: Real Madrid weighing up Bale-Hazard swap?

October 17, 2018 By Emmanuel K. Budu-Annor
Los Blancos are working out a scheme to bring their long-term admirer to the Bernabeu.

Real Madrid is reportedly considering the prospect of including Gareth Bale in a swap deal plus cash to secure the service of Eden Hazard. The 27-year-old Belgian international has, in recent times, flirted with the idea of completing a dream move to the Bernabeu.

Despite having just a year remaining on his current Chelsea contract, the attacking-midfielder has spoken against forcing a move out of the London club. With Hazard yet to extend his stay, Real Madrid is said to be keenly monitoring his situation having successfully lured his compatriot Thibaut Courtois to the Spanish capital this summer.

According to The Sun, the European champions have prioritized the signing of Eden Hazard in the nearest possible future and, as a result, are willing to offer Gareth Bale plus cash for the Belgian forward. With Chelsea maintaining its stance of not being interested in Hazard's sale, a crunchy battle for the player's signature could be well and truly on.

Relatively, the Blues are reportedly preparing a hefty contract extension package to keep their poster boy at the Stamford Bridge. Chairman of the London club Bruce Buck has insisted that they will try to do whatever it takes to keep the forward.

While addressing his audience at a Financial Times future of football event, he said: "Every Chelsea fan in London and around the world loves Eden Hazard, and he's not only a great footballer but I think he's a wonderful lad.

"We want him to stay and we will do what we have to do to entice him to stay. "Let's see how it goes between now and the end of the season."

On the other hand, Real Madrid's Gareth Bale is believed to be uninterested in a move away. Prior to his latest injury, the 29-year-old winger was soaring in form, scoring four and assisting three times in eight appearances for the club side.
