Promotion to League A of the UEFA Nations League is at stake when the Republic of Ireland welcomes Wales to the Aviva Stadium. More details in LiveSoccerTV's comprehensive match preview.

Republic of Ireland vs Wales team news

It is double trouble for Wales who will be without star men Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey when they it is hosted by the Republic of Ireland at the Aviva Stadium on Tuesday. The former returned to his club side Real Madrid to continue his recovery from a groin injury having sat out the 4-1 humiliation to Spain last Thursday.

Aaron Ramsey, on the other hand, pulled out of camp on Monday due to "family reasons". This came after the 27-year-old midfielder's partner reportedly gave birth to twins. His side will also be without the service of Chelsea starlet Ethan Ampadu and defender Chris Mepham. Gwion Edwards and Kieron Freeman were called up earlier by Ryan Giggs to replace the pair.

For the Republic of Ireland, Bristol City midfielder Callum O'Dowda is a major doubt to feature in the upcoming UNL clash as he is yet to fully recover from an injury. To fortify the squad, Martin O'Neil has caalled into camp Portsmouth striker Ronan Curtis.

Harry Arter also returned to the side on Saturday after settling his feud with assistant manager Roy Keane.

Match Preview

The Republic of Ireland will hope to avenge September's 4-1 humiliation when it welcomes Ryan Giggs and his Welsh side to the Aviva Stadium. Currently aiming to survive the drop in Group 4 of the UNL's League B, Martin O'Neil's men's prime objective will be to secure a win after the stalemates with Denmark over the weekend.

On the other hand, Wales will be out to change their fortune as the side enters the upcoming clash on the back of consecutive defeats to Denmark and Spain. Although the former was a United Nations League encounter, the Dragons maintain high hopes of securing promotion to League A, and a win at the Aviva Stadium will guarantee just that.

The Republic of Ireland has endured a topsy-turvy ride in its last 10 games having amassed three wins and three draws. The Boys in Green are also without a win in their last three matches across all competitions and have conceded five goals in the process.

Relatively, Wales has recorded three wins and three draws in its last 10 outings. The Dragons' last two matches have ended in defeats.
