Kroos not comfortable with role under Lopetegui

Kroos shares discomfort over role at Real Madrid under Lopetegui

October 12, 2018 By Oscar Rojas
The German midfielder also shared his views on Die Mannschaft's current situation and how coach Joachim Löw still can make things work for them.

German midfielder Toni Kroos is known for his accurate crosses and dominance while on the pitch. He's never been prone to cause controversy with his statements, but his recent words will surely make some fans wonder what's going on at Real Madrid.

Speaking in an interview with ESPN, the talented midfielder spoke about his role in Los Blancos' mid-section. His straight answer when asked about how he feels playing in a defensive midfielder role left no doubt on where he wants to play for the Spanish giants.

"I am not Casemiro," the footballer frankly replied.

"I can get used to play there but with someone beside me, just like we do for the National Team with (Joshua) Kimmich. That's a system that could work for me in the future," the footballer added.

Real Madrid's boss has faced serious criticism from fans and experts due to his tactical changes, which have included fielding players away from their natural positions. We'll have to wait and see if coach Lopetegui listens to the German footballer's words.

Kroos stands by Löw despite poor form

The German National Team had one of the worst World Cups ever for a defending champion, but that seems to be no reason for slamming Joachim Löw's entire term as Die Mannschaft's boss.

Kroos' words come after Michael Ballack criticized Löw for not stepping down as boss following their WC failure. According to the midfielder, Löw has found the needed strength to lead Germany's rise from the ashes instead of running to hide from his responsibility.

"There will always be different opinions. There are some who believe that you should retire after a big success, while others believe you must step down after a massive failure. Our coach has found new challenges ahead, and I'm sure we will be able to turn things around," Kroos stated.
