The Welshman's current deal expires next summer, meaning he could leave for nothing.

Aaron Ramsey has finally broken his silence over his Arsenal future, as he opened up about a possible Emirates Stadium exit. The Welshman caught up with reporters while on international duty and lifted the lid on his plans.

The midfielder confirmed reports that he came close to signing an extension only for that offer to be pulled by the club. With his current deal expiring next summer, the 27-year-old hinted that he will reluctantly be forced to leave the club.

There has been speculation of a January sale so as to avoid seeing him walk away for nothing. However, the Gunners' longest-serving current player insisted that he would not force a move come this winter amid links with Man United and Chelsea.

"Will I stay for the rest of the season? Of course, yeah," Ramsey is quoted as saying by Metro.

"I am contracted to Arsenal and I am going to do my best now this season to try and achieve something special.

"Everything has been going great with the club. We thought we were in a position where we had agreed a deal but that's no longer the case.

"So I just have to carry on playing my football and do my best for Arsenal this season and I'll leave the rest with the club now.

"That's a decision that they have made and things happen in football and you just have to get on with it and carry on playing the best I can.

"That's all I am concentrating on, giving my best for Arsenal."

While Ramsey has been criticized for his indifferent start to the season, he has contributed to four goals in eight appearances in the Premier League this term. This includes three assists and his impressive back-heel goal against Fulham in the 5-1 Craven Cottage victory.

The Welshman's next destination is a mystery, but the odds of seeing him join a direct rival are high. Other Premier League giants could benefit from a goalscoring midfielder like Ramsey, and unless Arsenal pulls a new deal out from a hat, they stand to lose another key player to another English top-flight opponent.
