CR7 will not play for A Selecção after speaking to coach Fernando Santos and with the Portuguese Football Federation's president, Fernando Gomes

Cristiano Ronaldo will not return to the Portuguese National Team this month. In fact, the Portuguese footballer may not return to A Selecção Das Quinas until next year.

Juventus' ace and Portugal's all-time top scorer was not included in the call up revealed today by the team's tactician,Fernando Santos, in the wake of the alleged rape case involving the footballer.

Moments after the press conference, coach Santos addressed the issue and denied that CR7's absence from the squad was not going to be permanent

"In the future, there's nothing that will prevent Cristiano Ronaldo from playing with Portugal," Santos stated.

A later report by Portuguese journal Record reveals that CR7, coach Santos and FPF president Fernando Gomes agreed to leave the footballer out of the squad that will play against Poland in the UEFA Nations League and in a friendly game against Scotland three days later.

In fact, the Portuguese Football Federation's president Fernando Gomes had supportive words for the team's superstar in the wake of the legal issue mentioned above.

"On my behalf, and in the name of the Portuguese Football Federation, I want to offer Cristiano Ronaldo our solidarity in a moment in which his good name and reputation are being questioned. I believe in his word, not only because I defend the presumption of innocence as a basic principle of law, but also because I've known Cristiano Ronaldo for a long time and I've witnessed his good character," Gomes stated.
