October 3, 2018 By Emmanuel K. Budu-Annor
Neymar Jr. entered the Champions League's history books with his treble against Red Star Belgrade in Wednesday's clash.

It was all about Neymar Jr display when Paris Saint-Germain hosted Red Star Belgrade in its second group game of this season's UEFA Champions League. The Parc des Prince's outfit, who suffered a defeat in their first game against Liverpool, was handed a fly start with the Brazilian forward leading the charge.

Neymar Jr. opened the scoring in the 20th minute via a sublime free-kick from about 20 yards out. Barely two minutes later, the 26-year-old forward netted another. The former Barcelona man combined with teenage sensation Kylian Mbappe before firing home inside the penalty area. Watch the two goals below:

The floodgate was, as a result, opened as Edinson Cavani grabbed PSG's third of the day in the 37th minute. The Uruguayan benefited greatly from the sloppiness among Red Star Belgrade's defense and a deflection. Argentinian international Angel Di Maria added the fourth goal before half time. The former Real Madrid and Manchester United winger struck the ball past the visitor's goalkeeper after running onto a flick by full-back Thomas Meunier.

Kylian Mbappe then netted PSG's fifth goal following an assist by Edinson Cavani in the 70th minute. Neymar Jr subsequently completed his hat-trick in the 81st-minute with his second free-kick in the game after Marko Marin had pulled one back for the visitors. The PSG stalwart, as a result, became the joint-highest scoring Brazilian in Champions League's history, equalizing Kaka's 30-goal tally.

Neymar's treble in Wednsday night's action took his tally in 10 games this season to 10. The Brazilian forward, who also has three assists to his name this season, has now been involved in nine goals for PSG in their last four home game in the Champions League.

Interesting, the exploits of the winger and his teammates ensure that PSG, for the first time in its history, secured a four-goal lead in the first half of a Champions League clash.
