Low fails in attempt to meet Ozil at Arsenal

Conflicting reports emerge as Joachim Low fails in attempt to meet Ozil at Arsenal

September 26, 2018 By Ali M.
The German national team boss reportedly flew to London with the hope of ending the midfielder's feud.

In an attempt to resolve the issue between Mesut Ozil and the German national team, Joachim Low headed to London, accompanied by team coach Oliver Bierhoff. However, conflicting reports have emerged surrounding the unfoldings.

Bild claims that the 29-year-old continued to ignore his former manager. Low revealed after the player's retirement that the playmaker ignored his calls and did not relay his exit plans to him. The German tabloid writes that the former Real Madrid midfielder stood his ground and snubbed die Mannschaft's attempt to extend an olive branch.

Bild also reports that the World Cup-winning boss made his way to the London Colney training complex to see Ozil, but Arsenal boss Unai Emery blocked the meeting. However, these claims have been refuted by other sources.

One of those was Football London's Arsenal correspondent, Charles Watts. Firstly, the journalist states that the true purpose of Low's London visit was to see Per Mertesacker, who is now in charge of the Gunners' academy.

Secondly, he wrote he has been told that claims Emery blocked the meeting are fabricated. Watts also added that Ozil just happened to be absent from the training ground when Low visit, which meant the manager only crossed paths with Leno and Mustafi.

One thing that is for sure is there is no return for Ozil to the national side. His allegations of racism and disrespect from the DFB shook the German FA and burned bridges.

Currently, his only focus is his north London employer. The Premier League side will be in action on Wednesday, as they will take on Brentford in round three of the English League Cup. It's unsure whether Mesut will feature in that game, as Emery is tipped to field a youthful squad.
