The Frenchman has been a free agent since stepping down as Real Madrid boss over the summer.

Many people have been speculating as to when Zinedine Zidane will return to management, with the Frenchman recently giving a hint to reporters over his future. What the World Cup winner said could be exciting news for a few top clubs, and a worrying one for a few top managers.

The former Real Madrid boss has been on sabbatical since stepping down at the Bernabeu. After leading Los Blancos to three consecutive Champions League titles, Zizou resigned over the summer and is yet to return to coaching.

The 46-year-old gave a cryptic message as to when he will be back while catching up with TVE after attending his son's game. Zizou said, as per Marca:

"I am sure that I will coach again before long.

"This is what I like and what I have done all my life."

How soon could this be? Some could interpret this as some point this season, or maybe next summer at the latest, but little actually know the Frenchman's true intentions.

Just as Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp were a few years back, Zidane is a high-profile manager who is a free agent. This means should any top club struggle this season, they could get rid of their coach and swoop in for the former midfielder.

Man United is one team being heavily linked with the former Real Madrid tactician. Despite winning their last game before the international break, a 2-0 victory over Burnley, the back-to-back defeats against Brighton and Tottenham have not been forgotten.

Many predict Jose Mourinho will eventually get sacked at Old Trafford should things continue as they are, with the club yet to impress this season and the manager constantly going on rants in press conferences. However, as stated by the Special One himself, firing him would cost the Red Devils a lot of money as they would have to pay out his contract.

This has done little to stop the Zidane-to-United rumors, however, with a number of sources claiming he already has a transfer wish-list should he arrive in the Premier League. Only time will tell whether he will be headed for the Theatre of Dreams soon.
